A detainee, incarcerated at the Osny remand center (Val d’Oise), escaped Tuesday evening from the Pontoise hospital after a woman shot one of the prison officers who were escorting him to get him treated. According to information from Europe 1, it would be the prisoner’s wife.

The 28-year-old man arrived at the hospital at around 9:30 pm, undergoing “medical extraction after he was discovered in his cell in the process of mutilating himself”, according to the prison administration. In the parking lot, his wife, armed with a pump rifle, shot one of the officials in the back, slightly injuring him, the prison administration and a source familiar with the matter explained.

The prison officer’s life is not in danger

The prison officer, hit “by lead or shot” according to a close source, was “protected by his bulletproof vest” and “his life is not in danger”, according to the prison administration. The woman and the inmate then fled together.

The man, from the community of Travelers, was remanded in custody in a murder case committed in September, said the source familiar with the matter. According to Actu17, he is suspected of having killed an 18-year-old young man in Valenton (Val-de-Marne) on the night of September 28 to 29.
