POPULATION: ONE, the competitor of Fortnite version Meta Quest offers a Sandbox mode!

We announced it at the beginning of October, and it is now done, POPULATION: ONE is about to release one of its biggest update, giving players and content creators the chance to let their imaginations run wild through the new mode Sandbox.

The mode Sandbox (sandbox) provides creation tools allowing, like Fortnite and Horizon Worlds, to create your own maps. Like other crafting systems, you’ll initially get many ports of maps came from other games before obtaining those that can take into account the specificities of the title of interest to us here. This is because said creators must first get their hands dirty with these new tools before they can match or surpass the cards included in the base game. Moreover, to make your task easier and avoid the anxiety of the blank page, you can start with templates (starter models) what are Grass (Grass), Moon (Moon) and Snow (Snow).

This is what the studio BigBox VR says about his new mode of creation:

You can make your map completely private, so people can play it the way you want them to. Or, some players may decide to make their cards or decks copyable, so anyone can search for that deck, save it to their own creation for editing, or change the rules in place.

You will have noticed, it would be a question of “making cards or games copyable”which would mean, according to the studio (to be checked, of course) that this goes well beyond the simple custom mapin other words, we would have the possibility of changing or creating the rules of the game, and perhaps even designing games in their own right.

For those who still don’t know, BigBox VR is one of many development studios acquired by Meta during the last years. It would also be very funny if POPULATION: ONE becomes in the coming months the reference of the metaverse that everyone is waiting for VRthus eclipsing a soft yet cut for that at the base … a certain Horizon Worlds.

POP1 sandbox will be available alongside traditional mode Battle Royale in early access starting at noon PT on December 14. The developers have hinted that they are planning seasonal updates for the main game and the sandbox.

If the PICO 4 catches your eye, and you are patient given the break, you can order the 256 GB models (499 €) or 128 GB (429 €) on Amazon. You’re more of the team Meta Quest 2 ? Know that you can afford it at the Fnac, Darty or Amazon for €449.99 (with Beat Saber and Resident Evil 4 VR currently offered).
