Former US President Donald Trump has been charged in connection with an alleged hush money payment to a porn actress. Trump’s lawyer has confirmed relevant media reports.
The indictment is the first criminal case that has been opened against a former US President.
A so-called grand jury of a New York court has voted in favor of criminal charges. Trump is accused of paying hush money to a porn actress in 2016 and not legally accounting for it.
Trump had recently claimed that he should be arrested and called on his supporters to protest. The former US President wants to run again as a candidate for the presidency in 2024.
