For almost 30 years, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor nicknamed “PPDA” was the king of 8 p.m., first on Antenne 2 then on TF1. In recent years, more than twenty women have accused him.
Seven years on Antenne 2, twenty-one years on TF1, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor was an undisputed star of 8 p.m., who had even inspired the central character of Guignols de l’info, on Canal +. Since his last news in 2008, he had remained in view, invited everywhere to the raw charges of sexual assault, then rape. Some closed without further action, others in the process of judicial information at the Nanterre prosecutor’s office. Since then, the telephone has been ringing much less, at PPDA.
PPDA: very few former colleagues and personalities support him publicly
They are very rare, those who still support former star journalist from TF1. Very little in public, in any case, apart from Claire Chazal, also mother of her son François, but also former colleague of PPDA. Nicolas Hulot, also targeted by complaints for sexual assault, which prompted him to withdraw from public life, still supports him far from the cameras. Ditto for the essential host of TF1 Bernard Montiel, or even Jean-Pierre Pernautduring his lifetime, who had indicated “If something had happened in this office we would have known”. His two assistants at TF1, Fanny and Marie-Hélène also testified in his favor, before the investigators, they who “guided visitors to his office at TF1” said they had never seen anything. This is little, compared to the character and his career, even if he still enjoys the support of his family, which unites around him, as indicated by the Parisian.
Persona non grata in major events, he is however qualified by some pundits as “sometimes a bit heavy flirty, not a rapist”. What PPDA itself conceded on the set of Yann Barthes, at DailyMore than a year ago. “There were sometimes little kisses on the neck, compliments, charm or seduction”he admitted publicly, “It is no longer accepted by the new generations. If you ask me, I regret it.” An intervention that went rather badly at the level of his professional entourage: since then, “contracts are becoming rarer, cancellations are multiplying” also reveals the Parisian, especially at France Television.
