PQube accused of embezzling A Space for the Unbound developer scholarship

A Space for the Unbound is a 2D adventure game awaited by all lovers of pixel artdevelopped by Mojiken Studio and edited by Toga Productions. Two teams based in Indonesia and pointing the finger at the actions of PQubewhich was to help them distribute their game in the West.

In a statementthe studios accuse PQube having hijacked a scholarship intended to highlight certain developers and publishers for more diversity. An operation launched in August 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, at the initiative of a console manufacturer which is not mentioned. This scholarship was supposed to go to the developers, but PQube hid his existence and kept the money for himself.

Mojiken Studio and Toga Productions therefore announce thatthey are postponing the launch of A Space for the Unbound for nowand that they terminate their contract with PQube. Problem, the English publisher refutes these accusations, explaining in a press release addressed to The Verge that he greatly funded the development of the game and provided porting and marketing support. The contract that binds the studios will undoubtedly give rise to a legal battle that promises to be long and complicated, because PQube is indeed the holder of the publishing rights of the game on consoles.

Mojiken Studio adds on his side thatit in no way invites players to boycott or negatively rate the titles published by PQube, it would only cause harm to partner developers. The press release is above all there to announce thatA Space for the Unbound will be long overdue.
