precautions for pregnant women

Currently pregnant or about to give birth? Difficult to find your bearings in this very special period. Some hygienic measures must be strictly applied to preserve your health and that of your future baby.

Not easy to be pregnant right now. A real additional stressor, the fear of contracting the Covid-19 virus and passing it on to her baby is certainly at the top of the list in the minds of all future mothers. Rest assured, a recent study has shown that pregnant women are not more vulnerable and that the virus infection is harmless to the baby. Despite everything, you still need to take your precautions and remain attentive to all the health instructions given to you.

Hygiene measures

Confinement requires, some letting go can be felt in your body routine. However, it is important to maintain a certain rigor on this point there, by maintaining your weekly habits, and by adding new ones. Continue to get 1 to 2 shampoos per week, wash your clothes, underwear regularly, and of course: wash your hands several times a day. After going out, after handling something, before eating, etc.

To go further, you can also do a nose wash. This process is recommended for fragile people, and in the current context, it is more than ever to be favored. The Covid-19 virus spreads through the respiratory tract, so it may be appropriate to cleanse this area regularly, using saline or mineral water with a little baking soda.

For those who are in confinement with children, it is important to make them understand not to kiss or cuddle you too much for the moment. They may be healthy carriers, but they are still carriers.

Medical visits

Mandatory for pregnant women, surveillance visits must be maintained, subject to various precautions. Indeed, the National Federation of Colleges of Medical Gynecology indicated that it was preferable that future mothers go there alone, without accompanying person or child, for collective security measures.

To get there, Marie-Claude Benattar, obstetrician-gynecologist recommends protecting your face and hands. "I advise them to go there with a mask or a scarf, because when you go to a doctor or to a laboratory, there is still a medical staff present. It’s not silly to do it when you’re pregnant, because at least that’s how you’re not goaded into it. If they have them, disposable gloves are also to be considered, disposable rather than other leather, for example. And if they haven't been able to wear gloves or a mask, they should wash their hands and nose well when they get home. "

As for other outings, it is preferable that pregnant women avoid contact with others. Also, when you go out for a walk near your house, it is better to go alone, and not approach anyone. For shopping, delivery is preferred, and if you absolutely must go there, it will also preferably be alone, to avoid any grouping of people.

Childbirth

This is a very difficult point to accept. Despite the circumstances of the situation which lends itself to joy, sharing and emotion, it is recommended for the moment that women give birth alone in maternity. Nothing official has yet been established, so it is up to the establishments to admit the spouse or not. In order to limit contact as much as possible, this measure must be respected, and this for the benefit of all those involved.

Beyond the heartbreak it represents, remember that the most important is the health of your little baby, your own, that of your loved ones and the caregivers who assist you. This year 2020 will be engraved in your memory all your life, and you will tell this experience to your child!

Marie-Claude Benattar sends a very beautiful message to all future mothers: "You have to be mature and follow the instructions to win this event, even if it is difficult. I want to say bravo to you, because you bring hope and life in these extraordinary conditions. "
