It’s the household appliance that everyone is talking about at the moment: the Air Fryer, also called “hot air fryer” or “oil-free fryer”. The advantage of this so-called “revolutionary” machine? Food is cooked much more quickly and with very little fat. Whether the food is frozen or fresh: you can cook almost anything in an Air Fryer. What is the difference between an Airfryer and an oven: how does an air fryer work?

The Air Fryer saves between 10 to 20% cooking time compared to traditional cooking in the oven thanks to its hot air circulation system, combined with a grill resistance. Food (frozen or fresh) is placed in a small basket, like a classic fryer. All you have to do is set the cooking mode of the appliance (‘air fry’, ‘bake’ or even ‘roast’ are all modes available), the temperature and presto, that’s it. However, remember to turn the food regularly for even cooking.

What can you cook in an Airfryer and what are the advantages of this cooking?

Chicken (whole, or pieces such as thighs, drumsticks or even wings), beef (roast beef for example), fish (all kinds of fish) and all other preparations usually fried, roasted or grilled can be prepared in the Airfryer. You can also roast all vegetables: zucchini, peppers, eggplant, green beans, pumpkins, mushrooms, carrots and even corn on the cob. The airfryer is also perfect for cooking frozen foods: fries, frozen hash browns, nuggets, breaded fish, spring rolls, fried foods for an aperitif. The advantage? Cooking without adding oil. More surprisingly, you can even prepare homemade cakes, pies, muffins, bread or pizzas: yes, you can really prepare everything in the Airfryer.

How to use an air fryer to cook vegetables?

Beforehand, cut your vegetables into small pieces and be sure to coat them well with vegetable oil (grapeseed oil is particularly recommended for high temperature cooking, but you can also choose sesame oil or coconut oil). olive for example). Depending on the type of vegetable, 1 to 2 tablespoons of oil is enough. You can absolutely add herbs and spices: thyme, Provençal herbs, paprika, cumin, curry, according to your tastes.

In a salad bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of neutral oil, some spices (Cajun spices, ras-el-hanout, paprika, Espelette pepper, your choice), salt and pepper.
