President Mattarella agrees to serve a second term


ROME (Reuters) – Italian outgoing President Sergio Mattarella agreed to serve a second term on Saturday, the regional affairs minister said.

“President Sergio Mattarella’s desire to serve a second term, at the request of the overwhelming majority of political parties, demonstrates his sense of responsibility and his attachment to the country and its institutions”, declared Mariastella Gelmini.
