The socialist repeats that only a primary of the left will allow a rally of his camp.
Christiane Taubira is warned: Anne Hidalgo does not intend to line up behind her in the race for the Elysee. “Absolutely not. This is an additional candidacy. Me, as far as I’m concerned, I propose a primary from the left. It’s my responsibility ”, supported the socialist candidate on RMC / BFMTV Thursday. Favorable to a broad primary since the beginning of December, Anne Hidalgo therefore wants to force Christiane Taubira’s hand. The latter has indeed specified that she “Would not be another candidate” and that she would only get started if a union formed behind her.
“Primary is the best way to choose”
Relatives of the former Minister of Justice hope, however, that the rallying of Anne Hidalgo will be more natural than she claims. That the socialist, undermined by bad polls, will end up giving up and siding in the event of a dynamic for Guyanese. If it seems simpler on paper, this scenario was therefore swept away Thursday morning by the mayor of Paris. “The primary is the best way to choose transparently”, hammered Anne Hidalgo, affirming that the left had “Again the month of January” to organize it. “I’m responsible for two, for three, for five. I know that the left, if it is not united, cannot govern ”, she wanted to insist.
Officially, Christiane Taubira is however not hostile to the idea of a primary. During her first trip last Saturday to Saint-Denis, she felt that the citizen platform of the “Popular Primary” represented “The last space” to attempt the rally. On the other hand, the Green candidate Yannick Jadot refuses to submit to such a process, saying that he draws his legitimacy from a primary of environmentalists already organized last September. As for the Insubordinate Jean-Luc Mélenchon, this proposal is for him a non-event, in which he has never considered participating.
