Highly anticipated, the debate between the two rounds of the presidential election between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen, has aroused many reactions among political figures.
Third in the first round, Jean-Luc Mélenchon was, as expected, not tender, evoking “a mess”. He expressed his impatience to “unravel” in the next legislative elections, a “third round” which he hopes to see his party La France Insoumise win and thus hold the majority in the hemicycle of the National Assembly.
Such a waste.
The country deserved better.

Alexis Corbière, LFI deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis, regretted that the poster between the LREM candidate and the RN candidate was so “boring” and cut off from “popular aspirations”. A feeling shared by Adrien Quatennens who also sits under the same label in the current National Assembly. “At 400,000 votes, we would have yawned less. We just lost three hours. Let’s not waste five years. Hang on! After Sunday, heading for June 12 and 19. We win in the third round. Another world is always possible. Let’s go get it!” he said.
Gilbert Collard, ex-member of the RN and spokesperson for Reconquête!, the fourth political force in the country whose leader Eric Zemmour called for a vote in favor of Marine Le Pen, regretted a “lunar” debate. “”The only sovereign is the people” says Marine Le Pen, she is right, Macron despises the people!”, He wrote in a tweet.

Candidate in the first round of the presidential election, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan called for Marine Le Pen to vote in the second round. It is therefore logical that he multiplied the tweets in order to support the leader of the RN: “A restless and pretentious little rooster facing a dignified and humane woman! #macronlepen. My choice is made…”, published the leader of Debout la France.

Unsurprisingly, a feeling of satisfaction largely predominates in Emmanuel Macron’s camp. “He mastered his files, he dominated the exchanges by the knowledge he had, but also by the ability he has to project the country for the next five years”, declared Christophe Castaner, president of the LREM group at the ‘National Assembly.
“What Madame Le Pen is proposing is that France, homeland of the Enlightenment, be the first country in the world to ban religious symbols in public space, noted Minister Delegate for Industry Agnès Pannier-Runacher. This is not the France of universalism, it is a betrayal of the French spirit and of the Republic”.

In contrast, Julien Odoul, spokesperson for the RN, judged that Marine Le Pen had “shown that she was ready and worthy to become the first president of the French Republic”. And noted one of the striking punchlines of this debate, when his candidate accused his opponent of “climate-hypocrite”. “Emmanuel Macron has just received a boomerang,” he laughed.

Vice-president of the RN, the mayor of Perpignan Louis Aliot pointed to the “contempt” of the outgoing president.

Concerning ecology, the EELV MEP Karima Delli criticized the two presidential candidates for being “off the ground”: “Emmanuel Macron calls Marine Le Pen a “climate skeptic”, Marine Le Pen in return accuses him of “climato-hypocritical” but the question of the climate, of the environment, it is not the part of the nuclear and the part of the renewable!”.
Emmanuel Macron calls Marine Le Pen a “climate-skeptic”,
Marine Le Pen accuses him in return of “climato-hypocrite”
But the question of the climate, of the environment, is not the share of nuclear power and the share of renewable energy!
You are above ground! #LookUp #debatmacronlepen
