On November 30, Eric Zemmour used an extract from the film Jeanne d’Arc by Luc Besson or bits of TV reports to illustrate his campaign clip for the presidential election. This had created a lively controversy among the rights holders, who had filed a complaint for “copyright infringement”.

According to AFP, Eric Zemmour and his Reconquest party were finally ordered to pay a total of 70,000 euros to the plaintiffs after the unauthorized use of film images in his clip. These are the Gaumont and EuropaCorp companies, the directors Luc Besson and François Ozon or the Society of Dramatic Authors and Composers (SACD).

The team of the candidate for the presidential election had notably used extracts from the films Joan of Arc by Luc Besson, A monkey in winter by Henri Verneuil, In the house of François Ozon, The quay of the fogs by Marcel Carné and from the documentary Louis Pasteur, portrait of a visionary.

Eric Zemmour appealed this decision.
