But five days before the first round, the candidate’s entourage is in doubt.

The confidence that shone through the candidate’s entourage last month has gradually given way to doubt. Questions which, today, exacerbate internal tensions. And Saturday’s meeting didn’t help matters. Because since then, it’s been a bit of a rat race between relatives of Emmanuel Macron. And off the microphone, some let go and settle their accounts to the point of criticizing until the speech delivered three days ago by the candidate president.
“We would have thought we were facing a Chinese restaurant menu”, looses an important minister, decidedly inspired by Asian cuisine to make fun of the abundance of measures given during the meeting. “Shrimp ravioli, vegetable ravioli, spring rolls and beef spring rolls, there was something for everyone, but suddenly, it was too much. We get lost in it”. A statement supported by a campaign executive who describes the atmosphere at HQ: “We are in a ZAD. Everything is decided at the last moment”. And that has a way of annoying that other minister.
Resentments inherent in a presidential candidate campaign
“We don’t know what to do anymore. When we show up to support the candidate, we are criticized for having our collar pushed. When we are less active, we are accused of being on vacation”, he laments on Europe 1. But we have to believe that these resentments are inherent in a presidential candidate campaign. A walker from the ranks of the right, remembers: “It happened exactly the same with Nicolas Sarkozy in 2012”.
