If Marine Le Pen wishes to seduce part of the voters of rebellious France, the candidate, on the other hand, is faced with a wall on the side of the sportsmen. In a forum signed by fifty athletes, the French navigator Jean Le Cam calls for blocking the far right.
“Sport refuses all discrimination.” In a column published in the newspaper The Parisianaround fifty sportsmen called for blocking the far right during the second round of the presidential election.
Among them, big names like Nikola Karabatic, Antoine Dupont, Clarisse Agbégnénou or even Jean Le Cam refuse “a far-right president”. The latter spoke on Europe 1, recalling that the far right represented “quite the opposite of the values of sport”.
“Sport is something universal”
“I’m not really someone who is oriented in politics, whether right, left, middle, etc. But here for once, I express myself”, begins Jean Le Cam. “It may be the first time in my life that I have expressed myself in this way. Sport is something universal”, adds the navigation genius.
“Sport is practiced all over the world. These are values that have no language, which have no colors. Sport is openness. The far right is anything but open”, he concludes.
