Presidential: this member of the Le Pen clan who finally decided to support Marine’s candidacy

For several weeks, departures have multiplied on the side of Marine Le Pen. Indeed, some of his relatives have chosen to leave the National Rally to join the ranks of Éric Zemmour’s party. But the presidential candidate can always count on the vote of a member of her family, her father Jean-Marie Le Pen.

It is a particularly complicated election campaign for Marine Le Pen. In addition to encountering difficulties in gathering the number of sponsorships sufficient to participate in the 2022 presidential election, the candidate of the National Rally must face the departure of some of its supporters, who decided to join Éric Zemmour. This is particularly the case of one of his most loyal lieutenants, Gilbert Collard, who announced his decision in January. Even the niece of the president of the RN, Marion Maréchal, has already hinted that she would not support her in her campaign. But fortunately, Marine Le Pen can always count on one person: his father, Jean Marie Le Pen.

The patriarch of the family would indeed have assured that he was going to vote for his daughter, according to revelations from Valeurs Actuelles this Thursday, February 24. “I like Eric. But Marine Le Pen is a candidate, I support her. By principle. Zemmour has the advantage of coming out of politics”he thus entrusted to our colleagues, before denouncing the lack of loyalty of Nicolas Bay, who also wished to join the ranks of Éric Zemmour: “I don’t understand Nicholas Bay. When the battle is engaged, whatever the reserves which one can have, one remains in place. These rallies to the opposing competition to the president of their movement shock me.

Tense relations since 2015

This support may help ease some of the existing tensions between father and daughter. Indeed, since the exclusion of Jean-Marie Le Pen from the Front National in 2015, then the suspension of his status as honorary president of the party in 2018, their relations were no longer really cordial. In the Journal du dimanche, on February 6, Jean-Marie Le Pen did not hesitate to publicly criticize Marine Le Pen. “She doesn’t listen to anyone. I’m much more flexible than her. She dismissed many activists, friends of Marion. It is a spreader, more effective in ejection than in recruitment”he had notably estimated.
