Presidential: what return for the opposition between Covid and the campaign to be relaunched?

After the holidays, it’s time to go back to school. And in this presidential election year, the candidates are ready to relaunch the campaign, each in their own way. The objective is indeed for some to maintain the momentum of recent months, and for others to regain momentum. For this, the multiplication of events is required.

DECRYPTION

This Monday also marks the political re-entry of the opposition in this presidential election year. Three months before the first round of the ballot, the candidates are indeed back on the ground: from Christiane Taubira to Valérie Pécresse via Eric Zemmour or Marine Le Pen, all are attacking this new year with different challenges.

Maintain or relaunch the momentum

To the left of the board first, it is in mid-January that Christiane Taubira will announce whether or not she is embarking on the presidential race, and whether there must be a popular primary. For the time being, with less than 100 voting days, the left is represented by six candidates. An unprecedented situation but which could change in the coming days. On the right then, Valérie Pécresse is traveling to Pantin on Tuesday, and also inaugurates her campaign HQ. The stake for the candidate is crucial: the objective is indeed to maintain the momentum acquired after the LR congress.

Eric Zemmour for his part is holding a meeting in Châteaudun in Eure-et-Loir on Friday. Now ahead of a few points in the polls by Marine Le Pen, the polemicist must regain momentum and for that he is counting on the exit of his program planned in the coming days. The RN candidate will be on favorable ground this weekend. She will travel to Perpignan and Béziers before officially launching her campaign on January 15 in Reims during a presidential convention, in front of several thousand of her activists.
