Pretty Little Liars: what happened to the interpreter of Paige, Lindsey Shaw?

Actress Lindsey Shaw has shared the reasons for her rather sudden dismissal from the series “Pretty Little Liars”, in which she played the character of Paige McCullers.

Why did Paige suddenly disappear from Pretty Little Liars? Actress Lindsey Shaw returned to the causes of her departure, also mentioning her return for a few episodes in the final season of the series. And to hear it, she was going through a descent into hell at the time:

“Wanting to take care of your body can pull you in different directions”confided the actress at the microphone of the Ned’s Declassified Podcast Survival Guide last July 5, “ranging from cosmetic surgery to the use of drugs or other sh*t”. And one day, this addiction cost him his place in the series:

I was really bad. I was called into the Pretty Little Liars creator’s office and she said, ‘we’re going to let you go. Your acting is not in question, but do you have someone to talk to?’ I said no and she added: ‘find someone; but we can’t go on [à travailler] with you as it is.

It was therefore necessary to leave his character. Paige was Emily’s (Shay Mitchell) lover, intense swimmer, and hated the character of Alison (played by Sasha Pieterse). His departure was covered in episode 14 of season 5:

“That scene was right between [Emily et Paige] saying goodbye at the airport. When it finally ended, we fell into each other’s arms and let each other go (…).”

In the 7th and final season, Paige was able to come back one last time with a real story arc, which Lindsey Shaw deeply appreciated:

“They treated me well allowing me to come back for Season 7 to say goodbye. I will never forget that.”

Pretty Little Liars is one of the teen series that we highly recommend. Since the series, Lindsey Shaw says she is in much better health. She continued her career but in a confidential way. She had started in Ned or How to survive studies (2004 – 2007), then played in the series adaptation of the film Ten good reasons to dump you (2009-2010).
