Prime Video: four of Tom Cruise’s greatest films are leaving the catalog, why we have to catch up with them!

Star of the year 2022 with the cardboard “Top Gun: Maverick”, Tom Cruise is on all fronts. Four of his biggest films are leaving the Prime Video platform. To discover now.

The unstoppable Tom Cruise reigned supreme over the 2022 cinema year with Top Gun: Maverick – the second biggest hit of the year in France – and is about to rock 2023. On July 12, he will be at the poster of the seventh Mission: Impossible, a film for which he performs one of the most impressive and dangerous stunts of his career.

On January 15, four of these greatest films will leave the catalog of the Prime Video platform: Top Gun, Vanilla Sky, Collateral and Minority Report. This is the perfect time to (re)discover them.

In Top Gun by the late Tony Scott, Tom Cruise embodies one of his first big roles in the shoes of a fearless and solitary pilot, Pete Mitchell alias Maverick. The actor is impressive, both charismatic and mysterious.

The film also reveals great talents, such as Val Kilmer or Meg Ryan, who will become a planetary star a few years later in When Harry Met Sally. Impossible to talk about Top Gun without mentioning its theme song, Take My Breath Away by the group Berlin. The title won a phenomenal success, but also the Oscar for best original song in 1987

This hallucinated thriller tells the story of a talented and charismatic New York publisher who, after a terrible car accident, finds himself disfigured and rejected by those who adored him. Very quickly, the young man understands that he can, thanks to doctors, recover his old face and his life before, unless this fantasy is only a dream…

In this successful remake of Abre Los Ojos by Alejandro AmenĂ¡bar, this Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise gives the actor one of his most complex and exciting roles, far from the image of action icon which sticks to his skin. For the purposes of a sequence, the actor even blocked the streets of Times Square.

Minority Report (2002)

The first collaboration between Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise, Minority Report quickly established itself as one of the best science fiction films of the early 2000s. It marks the start of the third millennium perfectly with its vision of a future that seems so believable.

The action takes place in the year 2054 and all murders have been eradicated thanks to technology that can predict and therefore prevent a murder from being committed. Tom Cruise plays Anderton, the leader of this “Precrime” unit who becomes its victim since it is predicted that he will kill a complete stranger within a few days. Then begins an epic race against time where Tom Cruise gives everything.

Collateral (2004)

In Collateral, a relentless and chilling thriller from Michael Mann, Tom Cruise teams up with Jamie Foxx. They embark on a nighttime taxi ride through Los Angeles. Jamie Foxx plays the driver, Max, taken hostage by a man named Vincent, a hitman played by Tom Cruise.

This is one of the few counter-employments of Tom Cruise in his successful career. The actor, accustomed to playing heroes, slips into the skin of a man who is not into feelings. It was Russell Crowe who was initially considered for the role of Vincent, but Tom Cruise gives him a character that is at once unfathomable, terrifying and fascinating. One of his best roles without a doubt!

All of these films can be seen on Prime Video until January 15.
