Multi-awarded and committed actor, Billy Porter embarks on a new adventure: directing. After the end of the Pose series – which won him an Emmy Award in 2019 – the Broadway star goes behind the camera with Nothing is impossible.
It follows the story of a transgender teenager who falls in love with a boy from her high school. No more dark and painful representations of transidentity, the filmmaker opts for a colorful, positive and naive vision. For this learning story, Billy Porter was inspired by the master of American comedies for teens: John Hughes, the author of Breakfast Club, Sixteen candles for Sam or Ferris Bueller’s Mad Day.

During his young years, in the eighties, the actor explains that he did not recognize himself in these successful films. With Nothing is impossiblehe wants to change the game and tell a story likely to appeal to those who, even today, feel ignored on the screen.
Authenticity, joy, celebration of transidentity and love, these are the themes that come through in the film. The director diffuses all his flamboyance in this project in which he even incorporates a dance sequence – as if to better pay tribute to his love for the boards.
“I was so touched by the story, the uniqueness of the storytelling and what it representshe enthused in the columns of Time. It was perfect for everything I am and mean as an artist.” He entrusts the main role to a 26-year-old transgender woman, Eva Reign. Formerly a journalist, she signs here her very first appearance in front of the camera.
