After rumors about the state of the marriage of Prince Albert and Princess Charlène made the rounds, the Monegasse is now taking a stand.

After Charlène von Monaco (43) has still not returned to her husband and their children Gabriella and Jacques (both 6) due to health problems, new rumors about marital problems in the principality are constantly sprouting up. In conversation with the US magazine “People” Prince Albert II (63) now vehemently denies this. The monarch explains that his wife “did not leave Monaco in anger” and “did not go into exile” in South Africa.

Charlène “didn’t go because she was mad” at Albert

“She didn’t go because she was mad at me or anyone else,” explains the 63-year-old. Charlène “flew to South Africa to check the work of her foundation down there and to take some time off with her brother and some friends”. His wife’s stay was originally only supposed to last a week or a maximum of ten days. Now the 43-year-old has stayed in her old home for the time being due to “all these medical complications” as a result of an infection.

The Monegasque princess was last brought a week ago by ambulance to a hospital north of Durban. She collapsed due to complications related to a severe ear, nose and throat infection, it said. She had already caught the disease in May. “She did not go into exile”, Prince Albert II emphasized again in the “People” interview. “It was really just a medical problem that needed treatment.”

The rumor mill does not leave the Monegasque princely couple indifferent

It is now clear to Albert II, who has been married to the native South African since 2011, that he should have commented earlier in view of the seething rumor mill. So far, however, he has “concentrated on looking after the children,” he explains. He thought the rumors “would probably just go away”, even if they obviously do not leave him and his wife indifferent: “Of course it affects you. Of course it affects me.”

Charlène von Monaco has been in South Africa for months due to her health problems. In August, the twin mom received a visit from her husband and children for the first time – and their joy with their followers on Instagram divided. She wrote about a series of photos that she and her loved ones show: “I am very happy to have my family with me again.”
