Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla
Royal commitment for the London table
Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla visited the Wandsworth Foodbank charity on Tuesday.
Prince Charles (73) and Duchess Camilla (74) visited the Wandsworth Foodbank on Tuesday – comparable to the food banks in Germany. The royal couple praised the work of the staff and volunteers, who in the London borough of Wandsworth provide an average of 100 to 120 crisis-ridden households with food per week.
The couple spoke privately to families supported by the team at St. Mark’s Church on Battersea Rise. The team includes more than 250 volunteers who work in seven centers of the Tafel, operated by the Trussell Trust, as “Mail Online” reports further.
Shopping cart full of groceries
The royal family, who donated a shopping cart full of groceries to the center, praised the volunteers. Last year they helped more than 2,500 households referred to them by social services, schools, general practitioners and other agencies. “Thank you for your great commitment,” said the British heir to the throne.
