Prince Charles: In Davos, the Royal meets Greta Thunberg for the first time

The annual world economic forum in Davos, Switzerland, is currently debating a "coherent and sustainable world". Prince Charles (71), the British heir to the throne, also took part in the meeting. He finally celebrated a premiere on site on Wednesday: he met Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg (17) for the first time. Pictures and short video clips on Clarence House's Instagram profile capture the special encounter.

A short series of photos shows the two of them beaming with joy and looking at each other respectfully. Prince Charles in a classy suit, Thunberg in casual pants, a T-shirt and a sweatshirt jacket. In addition, a video was shared in which the two talk – blinded by the flash of lightning. "It is remarkable, it is one of the main reasons why I have tried to make all these efforts all these years," said the Royal about Thunberg in an interview with "CNN".

They care about the environment

The Swedes and the Duke of Cornwall unite their commitment against climate change. The 71-year-old in Davos, for example, called on him to help him fight climate change, "the greatest threat that humanity has ever had to face". He also called for new environmental taxes, more environmentally friendly fuels for means of transport such as ships and the use of hydrogen to power aircraft by 2030.

The annual World Economic Forum takes place from January 21st to 24th at the Davos Monastery in Switzerland. US President Donald Trump (73) is also present.
