Prince Charles: Royal will give a speech in the Bundestag on Memorial Day

His Royal Highness Prince Charles (71) will travel to Berlin next Sunday with his wife Camilla (73) to give a commemorative speech in the German Bundestag. For the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, the German-British relationship is to be the focus of the commemoration.

For the first time ever, a member of the British royal family will take part in the Memorial Day event. Daniela Schily, General Secretary of the Volksbund, expressly thanks the Prince of Wales for his visit: "This year is a challenging one for all of us. The fact that Prince Charles has nevertheless agreed to speak this year on Memorial Day is a special sign of the future directed reconciliation between our peoples. Due to the corona pandemic, fewer guests than usual will be able to be present in the plenary hall of the German Bundestag this year. However, anyone who wants to hear Prince Charles' speech will have the opportunity to do so on television. ZDF and Phoenix will broadcast the event live from 1.30 p.m.
