In autumn, Prince Christian, 16, will not only start a new school year, but also a completely new everyday life. Because as his parents Prince Frederik, 54, and Princess Mary, 50, announced after a long hesitation in a statement on August 7, 2022, their son will attend the Ordrup Gymnasium in Gentofte in the future. Previously, the Danish crown prince couple had to take Christian away from the Herlufsholm boarding school after a major abuse scandal, which also happened very hesitantly, to the displeasure of the people.

For a year he lived in the elite school. That’s history now. Because with the change of school, the heir to the throne moves back home to Amalienborg Palace. Certainly a change for the prince, because at the boarding school he was not surrounded by his family for the first time, but by new friends with whom he even shared the dormitory. Now Christian is returning to his siblings, for whom he is a role model as the eldest. And Princess Mary experiences what it’s like to have two teenagers around again.
