The Danish royal family has a weekend behind them that they won’t soon forget: Prince Christian, the eldest son of Prince Frederik, 55, and Princess Mary, 51, turned 18 and celebrated his new phase of life with a lavish party at the castle Amalienborg in Copenhagen.

A party that many royal representatives from all over the world didn’t want to miss. This is how we traveled, among other things Princess Victoria46, and Prince Daniel50, from Sweden and also Prince Haakon and his wife Princess Mette-Marit, both 50, who had been on sick leave for the last few weeks, didn’t miss the young prince’s birthday banquet. And four heirs to the throne also danced in honor of Prince Christian in the castle – and posed for a historic photo.

“Five future monarchs of Europe have gathered for the 18th birthday of His Royal Highness Prince Christian,” writes the Danish royal family on its official Instagram account about the photo, which shows Prince Christian as a “rooster in the basket”. Princess Estelle11, Princess Ingrid Alexandra19, Princess Amalia19, and Princess Elisabeth, 21, were photographed.

A photo that reflects the future of the monarchy – at least in part. Prince George of the United Kingdom, 10, Prince Jacques of Monaco, 8, and Princess Leonor of Spain, 17, are missing from the group photo, although they will also take the throne one day.

“The future is bright!”

However, the absence of the two young royals in no way diminishes the joy of many aristocratic fans about the souvenir photo. “Who rules the world? (Girls),” comments one enthusiastic user, while another notes: “The future of the monarchy in Europe is (mainly) female!!!” The royal five completely inspire their audience. “What a special picture that has been around since will be seen in history books for generations!” writes an aristocracy fan. Another sums up what many are thinking: “The future is bright!”
