Prince Harry (39) and Duchess Meghan (42) celebrate art in their adopted home of the USA: like the couple in a recent press release on its official website reports, it hosted its own cultural event in Los Angeles in March – with prominent guests. The art event took place on March 21st at the SoFi Stadium in Hollywood Park in honor of the Kinsey African American Art and History Collection.

It is one of “the most comprehensive holdings of African American art, artifacts and documents.” The collection tells “the powerful and poignant story of Black people, spanning centuries of resilience, creativity and triumph.” For the event, Harry and Meghan partnered with their Archewell Foundation with the Bernard and Shirley Kinsey Foundation for Art and Education.

Both on the website and on the Kinsey Foundation Instagram channel there are pictures of the evening to see. Among other things, a warm hug between the former British royal couple and their cooperation partners, as well as a panel discussion and a shared photo of Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland (67) with Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles (70). The British actor David Oyelowo (48) and the Nigerian-British photographer Misan Harriman (46), a long-time friend of Harry and Meghan, were also among the guests present.

Khalil Kinsey, chief curator and son of art collectors Bernard (80) and Shirley Kinsey (78), led the Duke and Duchess of Sussex along with a number of industry figures through the exhibition space. On stage, people then discussed “the history and meaning of Black art and how different communities can work together to preserve this important part of American history,” according to Instagram.
