It must have been highly emotional when Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan announced their withdrawal from the front row of the Royals in early 2020. Their employees are said to have been kept completely in the dark until the public announcement.

When Prince Harry, 38, and Duchess Meghan, 41, vacationed in Canada for a few weeks in November 2019, their staff felt safe. When the Sussexes announced their departure as senior royals a short time later in January 2020, their employees were said to be flabbergasted. That’s what The Times correspondent and author Valentine Low claims in his new book, Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan created emotional moments

When the employees found out about the new development, some “broke down in tears,” they say. “Meghan didn’t even want to tell her nanny, Lorren, where they were going. According to a source, she didn’t know where they were going until the plane — a private jet — was in the air.” “They weren’t coming back. The rest of the team only found out about the couple’s plans at a specially scheduled meeting at Buckingham Palace in early January. “It was a very loyal team,” a source told the author.

“It was a difficult time for her”

After the Sussexes decided to move to the US from Canada, Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry, 53, offered the couple and son Archie, 3, a first home. “It was a very difficult time for her,” he recalled, speaking to Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on American Breakfast Show Today. The producer got to know the two as a unit. “What I know about these two that I wish the world knew is how much they love each other.”

It was only in their interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021 that Harry and Meghan confirmed that Perry had provided them with a mansion in Los Angeles shortly before the start of the corona pandemic. “We didn’t have a plan. We needed a house and he (Perry) also offered his security guys, so that gave us breathing room to figure out what we’re going to do.”

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan have made a living in Montecito, California, along with their children Archie and Lilibet Diana, 1. The secret plans, the tears of the employees and the uncertainties of moving to the USA are long history. However, what the future holds for the Sussexes remains exciting.
