It was only by chance that a very special visitor was spotted at the final resting place of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022): Prince Harry (38), who is staying briefly in his British homeland before traveling on to the Invictus Games in Germany. A photo, taken by a tourist, according to the Daily Mailshows the royal leaving St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where the Queen was buried next to her husband Prince Philip (1921-2021) on September 19th last year.

There was no sign of other members of the royal family; Harry apparently went on the visit alone. It is not known whether he also went to the monarch’s grave in the King George VI side chapel. He was picked up by a bodyguard in a car directly in front of a side entrance to the building.

Harry’s brother William (41) and his wife Kate (41) were definitely not there. The two arrived at St. David’s Cathedral, some 370 kilometers away, around the same time that Harry paid his respects to his grandmother at Windsor Castle. And his father King Charles (74) and Queen Camilla (76) attended a church service near the Scottish Balmoral Castle.

The evening before, Prince Harry had already shared some loving words about his grandmother as a guest at the WellChild Awards at the Hurlingham Club. He reportedly told those in attendance that she was “looking down on all of us” and was “happy that we are together.”

Prince Harry only arrived in his British homeland on September 7th, and he is heading to Germany on Saturday: the Invictus Games will take place in Düsseldorf from September 9th to 16th. Harry’s wife Duchess Meghan (42) will travel two days later and directly from the USA.
