A reconciliation between Prince Harry and the rest of the royal family – that’s what Queen Elizabeth wanted so much before her death. His visits to London were at least a sign that the frigid mood was thawing.

It had been hoped so much that Queen Elizabeth, † 96, would see a reconciliation between Prince Harry, 38, and the family. Unfortunately, the monarch died before peace could finally return. Prince Harry, his wife Duchess Meghan, 41, Prince William, 40, and Co. always maintain their professionalism and show as little as possible of the tense mood during joint public appearances. But if you take a closer look, you can clearly feel the cold and the distance.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry adored each other

The Queen herself is said to have hoped so much for a reconciliation, says the royal expert Robert Hardman in the “Daily Mail” show “Palace Confidential”. Harry was long considered the Queen’s favorite grandson. And Hardman is also sure that both “adored” each other. Even after Harry left the Royal Family, the American by choice received a lot of love and support from his grandmother.

The Queen is said to have been particularly pleased when Harry and Meghan made a detour to her in Windsor before the Invictus Games last April and even more so when the two came to London with the children a little later for their 70th anniversary of the throne. The Queen is said to have seen these visits as a sign that the relationship with Harry was on the up again. She even expected Harry and Meghan to arrive at their Scottish country estate, Balmoral, for a summer holiday together.

Hope for an early reconciliation

“So gradually over the year we saw things thaw. We didn’t see a proper, you know, reunion of any kind, but the general trajectory of Harry’s relationship with the rest of the family seemed to be moving towards some sort of reconciliation. I think she would have found that reassuring,” Hardman told host Jo Elvin.

But as great as Queen Elizabeth’s hopes were, there hasn’t been a final settlement to the dispute between the Sussexes and the rest of the family.
