Royal fans are taking to social media to complain about the royal family’s failure to acknowledge Prince Harry’s crucial role in the Invictus Games.

“How can you appreciate the success of the Invictus Games without Prince Harry, 39, to mention? That’s what many royal fans asked themselves after the “Festival of Remembrance” last Saturday.

Prince Harry was not mentioned at all

In the name of the “Festival of Remembrance”, members of the British royal family gathered on Saturday evening to honor soldiers and war veterans. The event also honored, among other things, the “Invictus Games” founded by Prince Harry. This is an international sporting event lasting several days for war-disabled soldiers, which was held this year in Düsseldorf from September 9th to 16th, 2023.

What was initially positive about the honor was that Harry’s sporting event was mentioned at all despite his clinch with the British royal family. Some social media users had previously suspected that the royals would simply ignore Harry’s involvement completely. That wasn’t the case. On the contrary: it was even discussed that the foundation’s support for sick and injured military veterans was more than outstanding. However, the majority of Harry’s fans were not satisfied with this statement. They were annoyed that the prince’s name was not mentioned in connection with the “Invictus Games”, even though he has been their face since the foundation was founded in 2014. To many of his fans, it seems as if Harry’s family does not recognize his role or as if they are doing everything to “forget” him.

Fans are behind Harry

Following the tribute, comments on ” Other X users agree with this opinion and suspect that the Royal Family was unable to jump over its shadow. Another user even calls Harry’s family “ridiculous.” Although some comments indicate that Harry did not found the games alone, but in collaboration with the “Royal Foundation”, the dropout royal seems to have loyal fans who support him. Because the consensus of many comments is: “[…] It was Prince Harry who founded the Invictus Games, which helped numerous wounded soldiers, and that should never be forgotten.”

“Festival of Remembrance”

On the Saturday evening of November 11, 2023, high-ranking members of the British royal family came together in the Royal Albert Hall in the name of the “Festival of Remembrance” to commemorate those who served in the military for a long time – and some gave their lives for it. Among those gathered were King Charles, 74, and his wife Queen Camilla, 76, as well as his older son Prince William, 41, with his wife Catherine, the Princess of Wales, 41.

At the start of the celebration, William and Harry’s father unveiled the new statues of his late parents Queen Elizabeth, †96, and Prince Philip, †99. On Remembrance Sunday, a day later, the royals gathered again to lay the wreath at the Cenotaph memorial in central London and pay respects to the Commonwealth soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country.
