Important celebrations are coming up for Prince William (41) and Duchess Kate (42). Her youngest son Prince Louis will be six years old on April 23rd, the 13th wedding anniversary of the heir to the throne and his wife will be on April 29th, and Princess Charlotte’s ninth birthday will follow on May 2nd. Kate is said to have established special traditions for the special days of her three children – her eldest son Prince George will be eleven in July.
In recent years, the Princess of Wales, who is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer, has prepared a sweet surprise for each of her children. Kate revealed, according to The Sun once on a TV show that she “loves” to bake her children’s birthday cakes herself and that this is now a family tradition. “It’s become kind of a tradition that I stay up until midnight and use ridiculous amounts of cake mixes and frosting and make way too much of it,” she said. “But I love it,” she added, according to the report.
“Maintain a sense of normality”
Royal expert Danielle Stacey also told Hello magazine: “We’ve seen the Princess take some incredibly fun and playful portraits of her children over the years, as well as baking their birthday cakes, so she probably feels that way “It’s important to maintain these traditions to maintain a sense of normality.” The royals also often publish the self-taken snapshots taken by royal amateur photographer Kate on social media for their children’s birthdays.
“Extraordinary resilience”
Meanwhile, there is speculation that the Prince and Princess of Wales’ three children are coping well with their mother’s cancer. As an insider told People magazine, the three young royals are a special support for the sick Kate. “The children’s extraordinary resilience is encouraging,” a long-time family friend reports in the magazine.
During this difficult time, the three young royals would “cheer up” their mom with their smiles. Additionally, the insider added, “It’s very important that they have fun together when they can.” He also confirmed what was already clear in Kate’s statement about her illness: “The children are the center of their world,” said the family friend.
On March 22nd, Princess Kate with a personal video message addressed to the public. In it, she explained that she is currently undergoing “preventive chemotherapy” after tests following her abdominal surgery in January revealed cancer. Together with William, she took the time to explain everything to her children in an appropriate manner and to reassure them that she would get well again. “As I told you before, I’m doing well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that help me heal: my mind, my body and my soul.”
