Prince Nikolai is the seventh in line to the Danish throne and has also established himself as a model. In an interview with Scandinavian Vogue, he reveals how it came about that he is now a Dior ambassador, what life is like as a royal model, how his new life in Paris is going. Editor Allyson Shiffman was also able to elicit the secret of his perfectly fitting hair.
Tall, with a lanky build, striking features and a piercing gaze – when Bente Lundquist, director of Scoop Models, first laid eyes on Prince Nikolai of Denmark, 18, she quickly knew they’d add him to their portfolio got to. As it turns out, she made the right decision back then. In spring 2019, the seventh heir to the Danish throne was allowed to open the Dior show and then stood in front of the camera for the label. “I was so privileged to be able to open and close the Dior show. That was the starting signal for my modeling career,” Nikolai recalled in an interview with Scandinavian “Vogue”. Now he adorns the cover of the fashion magazine, was allowed to pose for an editorial and present current fashion trends – a great honor for the young prince.

Prince Nikolai: A royal model
Pursuing the profession of model as a royal – is that even possible? “Nobody had anything against it,” remembers Nikolai and adds: “But of course I had to explain it to my family. But I always have to, no matter what I do. When I started a job in any company or when I started my studies started. I had to explain it to my family. Not in a bad way,” said the young royal. Nikolai is now enjoying great success on the catwalk. He was only allowed to close the show of the Danish label Rains at the Paris Fashion Week. He floated down the runway in a pink coat with a long train – the image of the blue-blooded model quickly went around the world.

In addition to his even facial features, it is above all the hair that gives Prince Nikolai something special. Slightly wavy, dark brown, almost black. What does he do for this perfect hairstyle? Does he have a special grooming routine? Products he swears by? “I actually just take a shower and my mother cuts my hair,” was the flippant answer of the 18-year-old, who is aristocratic but still seems to be a completely normal teenager. Apparently neither his origin and his family nor his modeling jobs change anything. How refreshingly normal!
