Formalized in September 2020 during the Ubi Forward virtual conference, the game was expected on PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PS4 in 2021. As the French publisher clarified, the graphic rendering will obviously be modernized, just like the animations of the Prince, the enemies and the combat system.
Only, the game is postponed for the first time in 2022… Then in May 2022, Ubisoft announces very bad news. Development is now entrusted to Ubisoft Montrealthe studio behind the original opus, to the detriment of Ubisoft Pune and Munbaï, sidelined.
Incidentally, the company specified that its teams were going to take all the time necessary to “provide the best possible experience of this classic”, adding that it will be launched when ready. What to expect yet another release postponement, even if Ubisoft did not use these terms.

The French publisher has voluntarily suspended pre-orders for the remake of Prince Of Persia The Sands of Time. Additionally, Ubisoft has finally confirmed that the game would not be released in fiscal year 2023 (which ends on March 31, 2023).
“We are proud of the work done by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their learnings as the new team continues the work to deliver an excellent remake. As a result, we are no longer targeting a release in fiscal year 2023 and the game has been removed from sales listings.” explains the company.
Otherwise, Ubisoft invites players who wish to cancel their pre-order to contact their respective retailer. As you will have understood, everything seems to indicate that Ubisoft does not know at all when the game will be ready. The publisher therefore preferred to suspend pre-orders, the time to see more clearly.
