Prince Philippos + Nina Flohr: Your first wedding guests arrive

Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark, 35, and Nina Flohr, 34, have already married at a small ceremony. There was also an extensive celebration with friends and family. On October 23, 2021, the couple’s church – and probably last – wedding will follow in Athens. The first guests have already arrived and can look forward to a splendid wedding.

Princess Benedelte, 77, with her daughter Princess Alexandra, 50, and her second husband Count Michael have come from Denmark, according to the Danish newspaper “Billed Bladet”. Whether Philippos ‘cousin Prince Frederik, 53, with his wife Princess Mary, 49, is not yet known – the Danish royals’ calendar is empty, however. The closest family of the Greek prince is of course already there. This Friday, the dress rehearsal took place in the Mitropolis Church, at the location of Philippos’ parents Anne-Marie of Denmark, 75, and Constantine II of Greece, 81, his brothers Pavlos, 67, and Nikolaos, 52, and his sisters Alexia , 56, and Theodora, 38, were present. The countdown to the royal wedding has officially started!

Princess Mako’s grandmother ex-Empress Michiko comments on her wedding

After a four-year engagement and constant obstacles, Princess Mako of Akishino, 29, can finally marry her civil partner Kei Komuro, 29, on October 26, 2021. But the daughter of the Japanese crown prince couple has to forego her royal title and status in the royal family. After the wedding, Mako will move to live with her husband in the United States.

Mako’s grandmother, the former Empress Michiko, 87, has now commented on the planned wedding ceremony and the move, as reported by the “Imperial Household Agency” according to “Focus”. “I will miss my first grandchild, Princess Mako,” said the empress emeritus on the occasion of her 87th birthday on October 20, 2021.

Princess Elisabeth stands out at the elite Oxford University

From this month, a new chapter in life begins for Princess Elisabeth, 19. The daughter of King Philip, 61, signed up on October 16, 2021 to study “History and Politics” at Lincoln College – a college that is part of the venerable University of Oxford – registered. This is reported by the daily newspaper “Het Laatste Nieuws”.

Official footage shows her strolling across campus, sitting in a café, or burying her head in books in the library. The new student remains almost undiscovered among normal students. However, if you take a closer look, you can see that this is not the case. Because in Elisabeth’s shadow, photographers and security guards always keep an eye on her. No wonder: the almost 20-year-old is not only a student, but also the worthy heir to the Belgian throne.

Can Princess Elisabeth also marry a woman?

After it was recently announced that Princess Amalia of the Netherlands, 17, could marry a woman if she so wishes, the focus is now on Belgium. Is it also possible for Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, 19, to say yes to a woman? “In principle yes,” says the professor of discrimination law Jogchum Vrielink in the Radio 1 program “Nieuwe feiten” (in German: New facts). “Since there is no rule regarding the sex of the spouse, the Crown Prince or the Crown Princess can marry someone of the same sex since the marriage was opened. There does not seem to be anything against it,” he explains. Marriage for everyone, which has been possible in Belgium since 2003, therefore also includes heirs to the throne.

The Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, 45, also officially confirmed to the daily newspaper “Het Laatste Nieuws”: “A Crown Prince or Crown Princess has the same rights in this regard as all Belgians.” However, Princess Elisabeth does not seem to be entirely free in her decision. Because, according to Vreilink, there is a decree from 1830, which says “that the members of the House of Orange-Nassau [des niederländischen Königshauses, Anm. der Red.] are forever excluded from any power and authority in Belgium. “That has to do with the tensions that existed at the time between the Netherlands and the newly separated Belgium.” So we have a problem when Amalia and Elisabeth fall in love, “jokes Vrielink.
