"Wishing a Merry Christmas doesn't feel right this year": William and Kate shared an emotional message.

There is no happy Christmas message from Duchess Kate (38) and Prince William (38) in the year of the corona pandemic. Instead, the royals are hoping for a "better 2021," recalling grieving families and the people on the front lines fighting the virus.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a series of pictures on Instagram showing helpers in the Corona crisis. They shared an emotional message: "This Christmas, our thoughts are with those of you who are spending this day alone, those of you who are grieving for a loved one, and those on the front lines who somehow find the energy, you to put our own lives aside and take care of the rest of us despite the danger. " It goes on to say: "Wishing you a Merry Christmas doesn't feel right this year. Instead, we wish for a better year in 2021."

Royals celebrate separately

There is also a Christmas message on the official Instagram account of the Royal Family. Queen Elizabeth II (94) and her relatives "wish all our followers a Merry Christmas".
