Prince William and Princess Kate
Apple boss Tim Cook pays royals a visit
Tech nobility meets British nobility: Apple boss Tim Cook paid Prince William and Princess Kate a visit to Windsor Castle.
Different backgrounds, same goals – this is how the meeting between US Apple boss Tim Cook (62) and the two British royals Prince William (41) and Princess Kate (41) can be described. The two welcomed Cook at Windsor Castle last Thursday (September 28th), as the tech billionaire is now with two pictures on X (formerly Twitter)..
One of them shows Cook and the couple smiling at the camera with their hands crossed. In the second, the Apple boss and the future king were photographed having a lively conversation. Alongside the photos, Cook wrote: “It was a true honor to meet the Prince and Princess of Wales. We had a wonderful and wide-ranging discussion about the environment, mental health and other issues that mean a lot to all of us.”
If you look closely at the photos, you’ll notice that you can see some bags with the Apple logo in the background. Prince William and Princess Kate were most likely able to enjoy new Apple products as a guest gift – the new iPhone was recently presented at the annual keynote.
The background of the meeting
Of course, the background to the meeting was not the prospect of a free cell phone, but rather, according to the US site, Prince William’s Earthshot project, for which the royal traveled to the USA in mid-September. There, Prince William unveiled this year’s 15 finalists. The award ceremony, worth a total of 50 million British pounds (around 58 million euros), honors innovative ideas and inventions to combat climate change. Later this year, on November 7th, William will award the winners in Singapore – although without Kate, as has now been confirmed.
It is not the first time that Prince William has teamed up with the technology giant Apple. About two years ago, he took part in Apple’s Time to Walk format, an audio series that Fitness+ subscribers can listen to while taking a walk.
