Prince William
He got this nickname for his naughty behavior as a child
Today we know Prince William as the reputable, professional senior royal and model grandson of Queen Elizabeth. But that was obviously not always the case. As a child, he is said to have been given a not exactly royal nickname, which he earned with his “cheeky behavior”.
As Royal author Robert Lacey writes in his book “Battle of Brothers: William and Harry – The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult”, the 39-year-old is said to have been a “wild” child who was only too fond of other people sticking out her tongue.
Prince William was called “His royal cheek”
“Since Charles at the time proved to be an equally adoring and indulgent parent, William made his own laws – loud and wild,” “The Sun” quotes the author. This fact earned William the nickname “His royal cheek” at the time.
Especially at the baptism of his brother, Prince Harry, 37, in December 1984, he is said to have attracted attention with his bad behavior. “The little prince was constantly wriggling and rolling his eyes when he wasn’t allowed to hug his little brother,” said Lacey. “It was part of his behavior. William had gotten into the habit of sticking his tongue out at people and brandishing his water pistol, spraying at least one guard on Highgrove who obediently stood at attention until he was soaked.”

The Queen was “not amused”
But that’s not all: “His royal cheek” is said to have gone through a phase in which he liked to pinch on “female buttocks”. After Mama Princess Diana, † 36, some maids in Kensington Palace and Highgrove are said to have fallen victim to him.
His grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, 95, is said to have been “not amused” by this behavior – especially when Prince Harry came to an age at which he could go along with his big brother.
