At the first appointment after the Easter holidays, the royal couple of Wales were in a good mood in Birmingham – including a prank.

Prince William (40) and Princess Kate (41) traveled to Birmingham by train on April 20. In the second largest city in England, they informed themselves about the diverse culture. They also visited the restaurant “The Indian Streatery” where they prepared and tasted Indian food. There was an amusing incident. When the phone rang, the heir to the throne picked it up and took a guest’s table reservation.

Prince William discussed the time on the phone

As reported, among other things, by the British “Daily Mail”., Prince William joked as the phone rang, “Shall I take the order?”. Then he answered the call without further ado and started a conversation with the caller. “Do we have a place for two right now?” the prince asked owners Meena Sharma and Rakesh. He negotiated with the caller about the time for the reservation: “You have a 3pm train? If you could get on at half past one that would be fine. For two people? Maybe a quarter past two and you could catch the train at three take?”

However, he didn’t pronounce the address “Bennetts Hill” correctly, which is why he feared after the phone call: “I probably sent it somewhere else in Birmingham, so my apologies.” On the official Twitter account of the royal couple it was later said: “I hope we told this guest to come to the right place”. William’s concern was unfounded: at 2:15 p.m., Vinay Aggarwal and his wife Ankita Gulati arrived at the restaurant on time.

“A Fantastic Day”

On Instagram, the royal couple reviewed their visit to Birmingham: “A fantastic day celebrating the different cultures and the thriving creative industry of Brum.” Birmingham is often called Brum, derived from the earlier name Brummagem. William and Kate also visited the historic Jewelery Quarter and learned about its development.

Princess Kate wore a €207 Karen Millen burgundy midi dress in Birmingham. She paired it with gold earrings from Sézane’s Dina and suede pumps from Gianvito Rossi. The mother of three has worn the shoes, worth 740 euros, to a number of appointments since 2015.
