Prince William is using his 40th birthday to draw attention to his fight against homelessness. He is reminiscent of Diana.

Shortly before his 40th birthday on June 21, Prince William (39) draws attention to a very special heart project: The Queen’s grandson helped distribute and sell magazines on the streets of London at the beginning of June in a video on Instagram you can see. This is the English homeless newspaper “The Big Issue”.

Visiting the homeless shelter with Diana

On the cover of the latest issue, the heir to the throne poses himself in full work gear, consisting of casual jeans, a shirt, a red waistcoat and a cap. William also wrote an article for the magazine himself, in which he also remembered the social and charitable work of his mother Princess Diana (1961-1997). “I was 11 when my mother and I first went to a homeless shelter,” William writes both in the post as well as on Instagram.

Since then, the 39-year-old has dealt intensively with the topic and wants to continue doing so in the future. In all the years that followed, he was able to observe how numerous projects that fight homelessness had an increasing impact.

Walking the streets of London and selling the newspaper opened William’s eyes: “I wanted to experience the other side.” […] People recognized my familiar face and were happy to spend time with me. But that’s not the case with the vast majority of ‘Big Issue’ sellers…”

He wants that from his children

He now wants to use his reach and approaching 40th birthday “to create awareness and action for those who are struggling, and I commit to doing everything in my power to solve this solvable problem not just today, but in the future spotlight in the coming months and years”.

He also hopes to take his three children, Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, “to the amazing organizations that do inspiring work to help those most in need in the years to come – just like my mother did”.
