Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales have to make a difficult decision: palace advisors are demanding that Prince George accompany them to the Queen’s state funeral on Monday.

On September 19, 2022, the great state funeral of Queen Elizabeth, † 96, will take place in Westminster Abbey. A number of high-ranking royals and politicians from all over the world have already made their way to London. Prince William, 40, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, 40, are also preparing for the emotional day – and should now also consider taking their eldest son Prince George, 9, with them.

Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales have a choice to make

The reason: Palace advisors have asked Kate and William to allow the nine-year-old to attend the funeral because it would “send a strong symbolic message,” reports the British newspaper “Daily Mail”. After all, George is second in line to the throne, right behind his father, Prince William.

“The courtiers are keen for Prince George to attend the funeral in any capacity, if only to reassure the nation about the succession,” a palace insider said. However, another source adds: “It is currently being discussed. No decision has been made yet.”
