Princess Anne is not known for particularly fashionable appearances. But she dressed up for Ladies Day in Ascot.

Yellow is definitely one of the favorite colors of Princess Anne (70). Again and again, the daughter of Queen Elizabeth II (95) enchants with appearances in the eye-catching color. This is also the case on the third day of the Royal Ascot horse race, the so-called Ladies Day, on Thursday (June 17th). Princess Anne appeared at the racecourse in a yellow coat dress with a matching fascinator hat and was literally beaming. In addition, the Princess Royal, who used to contest many horse races herself, combined a piece of jewelery with a high sentimental value.

The golden flower-shaped brooch that Princess Anne pinned to the lapel of her coat has been in the princess’s possession for at least 50 years. She wore the brooch for the first time in 1970 during a trip to Canada with her mother, Queen Elizabeth II. She wore the brooch again three years later, on her honeymoon with her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips (72).

On Ladies Day, the third day of Royal Ascot every year, women usually wear extremely flashy, fancy and oversized hats. Not so Princess Anne: She keeps it subtle with a rather inconspicuous hat with yellow feather headdress.
