Princess Eugenie: baby news makes her family "absolutely overjoyed"

Princess Eugenie is pregnant. The Queen is "delighted", mother Sarah Ferguson is "absolutely overjoyed".

The British royal family is growing: Princess Eugenie (30), the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II (94), and her husband Jack Brooksbank (34) are expecting children for the first time in early 2021. The couple announced on Friday (September 25) on Instagram. Shortly afterwards, the family's public congratulations arrived.

The monarch and Prince Philip (99) are "pleased with the news," it says on their Instagram profile. And Sarah Ferguson (60), ex-wife of Prince Andrew (60) and mother of Princess Eugenie, has already spoken out. She told the "Hello!" Magazine: "As soon-to-be grandparents, we are absolutely over the moon." Prince Charles (71) and Duchess Camilla (73) congratulated in their Instagram story on the pregnancy, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi (37), husband of Princess Beatrice (32) and Eugenie's brother-in-law, commented on the announcement with a series of pink heart emojis.

Does the child get a title?

The child of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, who tied the knot in October 2018, will take eleventh place in the British line of succession at birth. It is unlikely to have a title unless Queen Elizabeth II bestowed one on it and his father. If this is not the case, he or she will be addressed as Master or Miss Brooksbank in the future – as will the child of Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39), Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor (1).
