It has been three years since Princess Haya bint al-Hussein’s escape from her husband Mohammed bin Raschid Al Maktoum made headlines in Dubai. Today she lives largely peacefully in Great Britain with her children.

In 2019, the public followed with concern the dramatic escape of Princess Haya bint al-Hussein, also known as Princess Haya of Jordan, 48, from Dubai. For months she prepared to take her children to escape years of oppression at the hands of her husband Mohammed bin Raschid Al Maktoum, 73, (Prime Minister, Defense Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and one of the richest men in the world). She found refuge in Great Britain.

While it initially seemed as if the sheikh would not accept the separation of his wife and children so easily, today he has at least outwardly accepted it. But how is the escaped Dubai princess today, three years after the spectacular escape?

Princess Haya has been living quite luxuriously in Egham, a town in south-east England, with her children Al Jalila, 14, and Zayed, 10, since the events of the events and was awarded sole custody this year. She is also said to have a 120 million euro mansion in London near Kensington Palace. Since then she has enjoyed Jordan’s immunity and diplomatic protection as a diplomat. This year, Princess Haya surprised by attending the funeral service in honor of Queen Elizabeth, † 96. Otherwise she rarely appears in public. But the princess had a particularly good relationship with the British royal family, and she shared a love of equestrian sport with the Queen.

Haya’s ex-husband was convicted by London’s High Court of Justice in 2020 of charges including kidnapping his daughters, physical abuse and death threats. In December 2021, it was decided that he would have to pay his ex-wife compensation of 645 million euros.
