A few days ago it was announced that Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus attended a festival with their parents. The Norwegian royal family is now receiving criticism for this.

Recently, the so-called Stavernfestivalen, a concert event in the Norwegian municipality, took place again Larvik. There have both Princess Mette Marit49, and Prince Haakon50, as well Princess Ingrid Alexandra19, and Prince Sverre Magnus, 17, who enjoyed live music. However, there was an incident: According to the Norwegian newspaper “Se og Hør”, the siblings tried to get into the “premium area” of the site where alcohol is served. However, there is a strict age limit in this area, you have to be at least 20 years old. Therefore, it was initially said that Ingrid Alexandra and Sverre Magnus had been denied access.

Now it turns out they were let in with their parents anyway – and that’s causing an outcry.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus face headwind for festival visit

As “Se og Hør” reports, the bodyguards made sure that Ingrid Alexandra and Sverre Magnus got into the premium area together with their parents. press expert GunnarBodahl-Johansen now denounces that the crown prince’s children do not have to follow the rules. “Ifitsois, thatsheonespecial treatmentreceive, becausesheto theroyalFamilybelong, inoneArea, into theitoneage limitforothergives, thenfindItheRegrettable,” he emphasizes to the publication. Even if royals are often given preferential treatment, it is “completely unacceptable to do something like that in this situation.” Because that would send the wrong signals to the population. The royal family did themselves a disservice, says Bodahl-Johansen.

“Of course it’s unpleasant when it becomes a pattern that they abuse privileges in this way. It’s not good. Nobody refuses them a party, it’s part of life, but they represent the royal family there too. It’s important to remember that,” explains the expert.

No rules were broken

However, lawyer John Christian Elden assures “Dagbladet” that no rules were broken when Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus entered the said area. “The rules apply to serving alcohol, not entry,” he says, adding, when asked if it was right to let them in because they are members of the royal family, “I think the rest of the festival would have been very disappointed if the crown prince and princess left immediately because they weren’t allowed to bring their children into the area.”
