The wedding in the Jordanian royal family attracted royals from all over the world to Amman. But Princess Ingrid Alexandra did not accompany her father Prince Haakon to the celebration. A nobility expert has now revealed the reason for her absence.

On June 1st, 2023, royal fans enjoyed one of the biggest festivals of the year: In Amman Prince Hussein, 29, and his fiancée Rajwa Al Saif, 29, said yes in a festive ceremony. Members of royalty from around the world, including Prince William, 41, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41, as well as Princess Victoria, 46, and Prince Daniel, 49, attended the Jordanian dream wedding. Among the younger guests were Dutch Crown Princess Amalia, 19, and Princess Elisabeth, 21, of Belgium. But while Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon, 50, was also in attendance, he did not bring his daughter Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 19, to the celebration. Now there is an explanation for the absence of the Norwegian princess.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra did not come to the Jordanian wedding

According to Caroline Vagle, royalty expert for Se og Hør magazine, there’s a good reason Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit’s daughter, 50, didn’t attend the Jordanian wedding. “Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s co-princesses Catharina-Amalia and Elisabeth, both of the same age, were both guests, so many may wonder why the Norwegian princess was conspicuous by her absence,” she says, explaining: “Princess Ingrid Alexandra has grown up but is still young. She has just finished the school year and is about to complete 13 years of school.” Ingrid Alexandra was already absent from this year’s Norwegian National Day because she celebrating her graduation.

She should lead a “normal” life for as long as possible

Vagle thinks that Princess Ingrid Alexandra should live like a “normal” girl for as long as possible. “It is the wish of the crown prince couple and the royal couple that she stays with Ingrid for as long as possible and lives as protected from royal life as possible,” she says. Only from the day on which she is officially appointed crown princess will she increasingly represent the royal family. Ingrid Alexandra’s parents Haakon and Mette-Marit are still Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway. Unlike Ingrid Alexandra, Amalia is of the Netherlands and Elizabeth of Belgium already crown princesses. Therefore, their appearance at royal events is important in order to represent the respective royal family appropriately.
