princess Leonor is of legal age. After she brilliantly mastered the compulsory part of being sworn in, the heir to the throne celebrated her 18th birthday with the family and numerous royal guests. Her grandparents also stopped by for a brief moment.
Princess Leonor celebrates her birthday with a private dinner
In the Palacio del Pardo, which according to “Hola” was protected by strict security measures from the early afternoon, the celebrations in honor of the Princess of Asturias continued. A large part of the Bourbon and Greek royal families as well as some close friends are said to have been present.

Pictures from the evening show Felipe driving up – himself at the wheel – with his wife and Princess Leonor and Princess Sofía, 16, in the back seats. The Queen swapped her royal blue day dress for an elegant, sleeveless evening dress in black. On the way back, she got behind the wheel and left the private party with her daughter Sofía in the passenger seat while Felipe left in another vehicle.
Juan Carlos traveled from Abu Dhabi
Former King Juan Carlos, 85, also attended the party in honor of his granddaughter. The King Emeritus, who arrived from his adopted home of Abu Dhabi at around 3 p.m., and Queen Sofía, 84, had not previously taken part in the public ceremony and lunch.

However, after a short visit, Juan Carlos is said to have been back on the plane back to his adopted home of Abu Dhabi at around 10 p.m. Sofía left the El Pardo Palace around 11 p.m. with her sister Princess Irene, 81, it is said. Letizia’s parents Paloma Rocasolano and Jesús Ortiz, 74, along with his wife Ana Togores and his daughter Telma, 50, also accepted the invitation to the event.

Infanta Cristina, 58, didn’t miss the opportunity to celebrate her niece’s big day and came with her children Irene, 18, and Miguel, 21, and probably also Pablo, 22. Infanta Elena, 59, and her son Felipe Froilán , 25, were also among the guests. Victoria Federica de Marichalar y Borbón, 23, on the other hand, is currently in Peru, so her schedule did not allow her to attend the celebrations. However, she sent loving birthday greetings to her cousin via Instagram. “Today is a big day for you and for Spain, I’m sure you’ll become a great queen. I’m very proud of you. Happy birthday,” she wrote in her story alongside a photo of Leonor on her grand day Day.

Other guests included Leonor’s great-aunt Margarita de Borbón, 84, as well as several members of the Greek royal family such as Queen Sofía’s sister-in-law Anne-Marie of Greece, 77. The widow of King Constantine, †82, was survived by her daughter Alexia of Greece, 58, accompanied. The last time the Bourbon and Greek families were seen together in public was at Constantine’s funeral in Athens in January. However, Princess Leonor and Princess Sofía were not present.
