In her Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex talks about the taboo of appearing in the same color as other members of the royal family. However, Catherine, Princess of Wales, has refuted that theory for the second time this year. A swipe?

The big coronation weekend is behind them, and more duties follow: Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41, welcomes together with her husband Prince William, 40, as well as Duchess Sophie, 58, and husband Edward, 57, a total of 500 “coronation champions” on the lawn of the Buckingham Palace. During the garden party, the four of them appeared radiant as usual and also visually made the perfect quartet: Kate recycled a cornflower blue dress by Elie Saab, Sophie opted for a ruffled dress by Suzannah London. Both women seem to have agreed fashionably, according to Duchess Meghan, 41, actually a taboo.

Never the same color as other royals: That was Duchess Meghan’s outfit theory

As the Duchess of Sussex reveals in the third episode of her Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan”, life within the royal family has presented her with numerous challenges. It was also part of the fact that as the partner of Prince Harry, 38, she could not wear what she wanted when she appeared with the royal family. “I rarely wore color during my time in the UK. And that’s exactly how it was meant to be done,” Meghan said. “As I understand it, you should never wear the same color as the Queen in her presence. Nor should you appear in the same color as other higher-ups in the Royal Family,” the former actress said.

Catherine and Sophie shine in perfect unity

It has often been made clear that Sophie and Kate share a similar taste in fashion – now they are showing it for the first time at the same event. On the steps of the palace, both women look like sisters and close confidants and show exactly that through their clothing. While Kate wows her fans in a light blue dress by Elie Saab and a hat by Philip Treacy, Sophie, almost twenty years her senior, combines a very similar hat with a similar, long midi-length dress with ruffles. The looks are the same in terms of color and cut.

Never appearing in the same color at an event as another Senior Royal? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that. Kate proves otherwise with Sophie.

The appearance doesn’t look like a breach of the rules or a fashion faux pas by the two, who have known and celebrated polite etiquette for years. There is also no trace of one overshadowing the other. Instead, the Princess of Wales and Duchess of Edinburgh look proud of the perfect union, which they also fashionably portray. A little dig at Meghan that rules can be changed if you pull together?

Here’s how Kate refutes Meghan’s theory

With her most recent appearance, Kate proves for the second time that Duchess Meghan’s dress theory seems to be outdated. Not only at the garden party in Buckingham Palace does she appear in the same color as another member of the royal family, just four weeks earlier Kate chose the same color as Queen Camilla, 75. At that time, she and the queen wore dresses in a rich dark blue. The mother of three is below Camilla in the royal hierarchy. For them, however, there is obviously no reason not to rely on one unit.

At this year's Easter service, Kate also shows up with Camilla in a partner look.
