Princess Leonor: Intimate celebration for her 16th birthday

On October 31, 2021, Princess Leonor was 16 years old – but the Spanish heir to the throne had to do without an exuberant “Sweet Sixteen” party. The reason: Leonor’s birthday coincided with the end of the autumn break, and school starts again in November. In order not to have to go into quarantine for five days in her school after her return to Wales – Leonor is studying at the local UWC Atlantic College – she is said to have had no contact with anyone outside of her immediate family, as the daily “La Voz de Galizia” learns wants.

Seems like Princess Leonor celebrated her 16th birthday at home with her parents, King Felipe, 53, and Queen Letizia, 49, as well as her sister, Princess Sofía, 14. According to “La Voz de Galicia”, the royal family did not want to reveal when she returned to Wales.

Princess Mary was in Burkina Faso

Official trips are usually communicated in advance by members of the European royal family. But with Princess Mary, 49, an exception had to be made – for safety reasons.

From October 27th to 29th, 2021 Mary was in Burkina Faso together with the Danish Development Aid Minister Flemming Möller Mortensen. The topic of the trip was women’s health and women’s rights in a region marked by poverty, unrest and climate change, as the Danish royal family announced on October 30th, when the delegation had arrived safely at home.

Princess Mary was part of the secret trip because the Danish government asked her to. Development Aid Minister Mortensen confirmed the illu “Billed Bladet” that it was not by chance that the government asked Mary: “It simply makes a big difference whether she is there or not. Also because the Crown Princess is personally very involved in the matter.” Mortensen also emphasized that because of Mary the attention of the trip is completely different: “When we talk to institutions, organizations or with politicians like the President, the difference is big. It is very important that the Crown Princess is there.”
