In prisons, this Thursday, February 17, the rule is simple: you must show your “dissatisfaction”, through “all forms of action”. This appeal, launched by the inter-union, aims to protest against the new salary scale for prison staff. Access to certain establishments is thus physically blocked by the employees.
The intersyndicale, made up of Ufap, UNSa Justice, CGT Penitentiary and the SPS, first met the Minister of Justice on Monday February 14 to ask for “a real negotiation of the index grid relating to merging of ranks. But, in a press release, she affirms that Eric Dupond-Moretti “was very annoyed”, up to “leaving the meeting very quickly”.

The minister is not only accused of making fun of “madly and royally the Corps of Supervision and Application”, but also of defending a salary scale deemed “limited”, “approximate” and “unfair”. The unions therefore encouraged the supervisory staff to “block their establishment”, in sign of protest.
Questioned by franceinfo, the national secretary of Ufap-Unsa Justice, Wilfried Fonck, affirms that prison guards at the start of their career earned less than the minimum wage before the end of 2021. Today, they are just above, according to him . “Since this morning at 6 a.m.”, the national secretary has counted “a hundred actions in progress”. In some prisons, “all entries and all exits are impossible”.
Stressing that the protesters act in “autonomy”, Wilfried Fonck specifies that this mobilization can have an impact on the visiting rooms, if the families are not authorized to enter. There could also be consequences for the conduct of trials, if the guards prevent judicial extractions.
