Patrice Charlemagne, a 51-year-old university professor, was found stabbed at his home in Dunkirk on Saturday September 16, 2023 in the morning, around 4:10 a.m. While the investigation seemed to be moving towards the hypothesis of a burglary that went wrong, the investigators obviously decided to explore other avenues. More precisely, it is towards the partner of the Dutch teacher that the investigations are directed, according to The Parisian Wednesday September 20, 2023. Aged 37, the mother of the victim’s two children was taken into police custody on Wednesday September 20, 2023. In a press release, the public prosecutor indicated that “the purpose of this measure is to compare his version of the facts with the elements collected” by agents of the zonal directorate of the Lille judicial police, in charge of the investigation opened for intentional homicide. This literature professor and municipal councilor is therefore, at present, in the sights of the police.
A dark death
However, it was a victim that the police discovered on Saturday September 16, 2023 in the morning. With her 20-month-old baby in her arms, the young mother was found petrified outside the family home. After inspecting the surroundings of the house, law enforcement was able to find a pair of gloves, a flashlight, a laptop and several knives covered in blood. A macabre scenario resembling a hasty escape. Were there indeed burglars? Did they flee? The investigation will have to determine the circumstances which led the professor to his death.
