Passkey support in Proton Pass

The Proton Pass software, published by the eponymous company, has recently been available on all devices, including Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac. Building on this interoperability with operating systems, Proton is today announcing a new feature: support for passkeys in its software.

As a reminder, a passkey is a unique identification key which aims to replace the traditional password. By activating the passkey connection on a website compatible with this new protocol, the user validates their connection from a device using an authentication system installed locally. This system is similar to two-factor authentication (2FA) from the user’s point of view, but, unlike 2FA, they will not be asked to remember an initial password.

Proton says the passkey management feature is available for free, to all users and on all devices (through the Proton Pass app).
